About

Sources of Strength Ohio (SourcesOH) is an initiative led by the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation and PreventionFIRST! with the goal of bringing the life-changing power of Sources of Strength to as many Ohio communities as possible.

Sources of Strength suicide prevention programming has been implemented in over 400 elementary and secondary schools, reaching over 200,000 Ohio students. 

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide the highest quality evidence-based prevention for suicide, violence, bullying and substance abuse by training, supporting, and empowering both peer leaders and caring adults to impact their world through the power of connection, hope, help and strength.

Vision

Sources of Strength's vision is to Empower a Well World.  As partners in this vision, we believe that many strengths are more powerful than one, and our united goal is to activate and mobilize these strengths in ways that positively change individuals and communities. 

  

Secondary & Elementary Programs

Peer-Led Programming for Middle and High Schools

The secondary program for middle and high school youth populations utilizes a team of Adult Advisors and Peer Leaders to promote Sources of Strength's eight protective factors across the entire school. These protective factors build resiliency, connection, and ultimately help to prevent negative outcomes like bullying, violence, and suicide.

The Elementary Program combines classroom curricula with wellness coaching for school staff. Lessons focus on Sources of Strength's protective factors as well as things like leadership, emotion management, positive behavior.
